Watch movies under the stars at McLean Park

McLean Park movies are a magical event held in North Myrtle Beach’s McLean Park, which includes a 2-acre lake, making it one of the most picturesque places in the area for locals living in North Myrtle Beach real estate and close to homes for sale in North Myrtle Beach. This gorgeous park is centrally located at 93 Oak Drive, just a couple of blocks from North Myrtle Beach oceanfront condos, making it a short walk for locals that want to relax away from the beach and enjoy the scenic landscape of McLean Park.

You can also spend some Friday evenings watching a movie under the stars. The admission is free and all you need to bring is a beach chair or blanket. The North Myrtle Beach Lion’s Club offers drinks and popcorn and the Horry County Parks and Recreation supplies the staff and equipment to make it possible for North Myrtle Beach real estate homeowners to enjoy the G and PG rated movies that are shown in the great outdoors if the weather permits. The movies start 15 minutes after sundown.

On July 14, 2017, Moana (PG), an animated musical by Walt Disney, will be the next movie featured in McLean Park. It is a must-see for both boys and girls about a Polynesian Princess who is about to become the first female chief of her tribe. She chooses to become a brave, forward-thinking leader who respects the traditions of her people rather than the stereotypical princess that needs to be rescued. A newcomer, Auli’l Cravalho, is the voice for Moana who teams up with a muscled demigod named Maui, voice by Dwayne Johnson, to right an ancient wrong. By returning a magical stone to its resting place, Moana and Maui will stop the Pacific Islands and Moana’s home from being plagued as they have been since the stone disappeared.

On August 11, 2017, Secret Life of Pets (PG), a computer-animated comedy film, is about the adventures of our pets and what they get into when we are not home. The story begins with Max, a Jack Russell Terrier, who lives with his owner in Manhattan hanging out with the other pets in the building while his owner is at work. Max becomes jealous when his owner adopts Duke, a large mongrel from the pound. Not liking Max’s attitude, Duke tries to abandon Max in an alley when they are both attacked by a band of cats that remove their collars, putting them at risk of being picked up by animal control. The rest of the movie is about their adventures as they try to reunite with their owner. The underlying positive message in the movie is about friendship, teamwork, perseverance and how revenge does not pay.

On September 8, 2017, Beauty and the Beast (PG), a live-action fantasy musical film by Walt Disney, is a remake of the 1991 animated film Beauty and the Beast. The movie begins with a French Prince holding a ball in a grand castle to which only the most beautiful women in all the land were invited. The ball is interrupted by an old hag seeking shelter, and all she has to offer the prince is a rose. The prince is infuriated by the interruption, mocking the old hag and declining the rose. The old hag transforms herself into a beautiful enchantress, and the prince begs for her forgiveness. Having already seen that the prince has no love in his heart, she transforms him into a hideous beast and his servants into household objects. She reveals that the rose is enchanted and if the beast has not found love in his heart and someone to return it by the time the last rose petal falls off, he will remain a beast forever and his servants would remain household objects. The rest of the movie depicts the tale of the Beast finding love, how it came about, and the mishaps that take place during the adventure.

On October 13, 2017, Monster House (PG), a 3D computer-animated family horror comedy film, is about a house that has a mind of its own and comes alive, eating children as the owner of the home confiscates any toys that accidentally land in its yard. The little boy next door, DJ, has been spying on his elderly neighbor, Horace Nebbercracker. DJ tries to recover his best friend’s ball when it lands in his neighbor’s yard, which makes Mr. Nebbercracker so angry that he has a heart attack and is taken away in an ambulance. Since DJ’s parents have gone away for the weekend, he tries to convince his babysitter that something is wrong with the house, but she does not believe him. DJ gets his best friend and a girl selling Halloween candy to help him, and the rest of the movie is about the three of them trying to destroy the house. In the process, they figure out its secret.

All four of these movies are family oriented and have been well-received by the viewing public. They have also gotten positive reviews from the critics. So, if you are renting Myrtle Beach oceanfront condos or beach houses, come join the tourists and locals living in North Myrtle Beach Real Estate to see one of these great movies under the stars.
