People of
all ages enjoy seeing beautiful Christmas Light displays during the holiday
season. One of the most mesmerizing
light displays on the Grand Strand is The Great Christmas Light Show located at
the North Myrtle Beach Park & Sports complex at 150 Citizens Circle, Little
River, South Carolina. It is a park-wide
lighted celebration that is sure to put you in the spirit of Christmas.
The drive
through light show will be in operation through December 31, 2018 from 5:30 –
9:30 p.m. (closed on Christmas Day). It
will feature more than two million lights festively display along a 1.5-mile
drive throughout the North Myrtle Beach Park & Sports Complex. There are more than 500 magical light displays,
some up to 55 feet tall, that have been custom-made for The Great Christmas
Light Show. There are also 20 enchanting
animated figures and holiday scenes where the lights will come to life.
This spectacular light
show is divided into Candyland, Toyland, Winter Wonderland, Christmas Town, a
synchronized light and sound display and a nativity scene. The light show is paid for by the carload.
From 1-15 people in a vehicle is $15; from 16-30 people is $30; and more than
31 people is $60 per vehicle.
After you have journeyed
through the light show, you are invited to park your car and visit Santa’s
Village where there will be hot chocolate and s’mores available. Santa’s Village will be open on Fridays and
Saturdays only through December 9th and will be open nightly from
December 14 – 30, 2018.
Santa’s Village will have
a petting zoo, and you can visit Santa, so be sure to bring your camera to take
a picture. For an additional fee, you
can ride the Santa Express Train which starts out in Santa’s Village and goes
through a portion of the light show. You
can also go tubing down Santa’s 40-inch inflatable super slide.
The event will also have
ice skating on an outdoor synthetic ice rink with real ice skates. It will be $5 for thirty minutes which
includes the skates. Personal ice skates
cannot be used, because they are sharper than the skates provided.
This is the third year
that the North Myrtle Beach Park & Sports Complex has sponsored the Great
Christmas Light Show and it is expected to be wildly successful. The second year of the event, they were
expecting 300 carloads of visitors per night and there were 800 every
night. So, get in the spirit and be
mesmerized by The Great Christmas Light Show.

Nights of a Thousand Candles at Brookgreen Gardens is an extraordinary light
display featuring thousands of sparkling lights and candles, all of which
illuminate the lush, green gardens and sculptures of Brookgreen. Each section has its own unique light display
and nightly shows. There are strolling
carolers, live entertainment, roving bagpipers, live bands and musical
performances from local groups. Tickets must
be purchased prior to visiting Brookgreen Gardens.
Holidays on the Boardwalk is held in the downtown district of Myrtle Beach. This annual Holiday on the Boardwalk festival
lasts through New Year’s Day with a traditional seaside display featuring lights
running all along the 1.2-mile Myrtle Beach Boardwalk. The main display is situated in the center of
the action at Plyler Park. Enjoy the
Festival of Lights, the Polar Express Train Ride, Christmas caroling, live
music, phot ops with Santa and other costumed characters as well as camel
rides.
MarshWalk
Wonderland of Lights, located on the Marshwalk in Murrells Inlet, will make for
enchanting evenings on the MarshWalk through the New Year. There will be
thousands of twinkling lights in tunnel ways guiding you through the MarshWalk,
so you can feast your eyes on each restaurant’s breathtaking light displays. They
will be featuring holiday music synced with light displays. This new enchanting
holiday illumination is an event you don’t want to miss.
Broadway at the Beach has added a little extra sparkle this year with
a 46-foot Sequoia tree located
in Center Court. It features 580 branches
and glows with 14,500 RGB LED lights. A
synchronized music and light show, lasting over six minutes can be seen every
30 minutes between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m., with the last show beginning at 9 p.m.
When the music is not playing, the tree cycles through a variety of color
changing effects.
In addition to the
magnificent music and light synchronized tree, there are several additional
areas at Broadway featuring two to four whimsical trees, ranging in height from
eight feet to 14-feet. A few of those areas also feature seating and oversized
colorful presents, the perfect setting for a holiday photo.
There are lots of Christmas light displays for
you to enjoy along the Grand Strand. One
