Tantalize Your Taste Buds at Blueberry’s Grill–Unique Twists on Classic Foods

Chef Evi opened Blueberry’s Grill in January 2017, using only the freshest, finest ingredients to create his unique menu.  The kitchen is where the passion and creativity begin with flawless preparation.  According to Chef Evi, “Catering to the most discriminating foodies, our unique menu will have your mouth watering before you take your first bite.  Try new dishes with our signature gravies and sauces, like our scrumptious Eggs Benedict, or our delicious Southern Style Biscuits & Gravy.”

The name, Blueberry’s Grill, has a very interesting back story.  Evi Spaho, the owner and chef, grew up in the mountains of Albania where his family had a few acres of land and a small home.  His mother loved to plant trees and flowers on their property, especially blueberry bushes.  The bushes grew so tall that Evi could open his bedroom window and pick the blueberries.  His mother used the blueberries in many of her desserts and dishes–a favorite was blueberry rice pudding.  Evi was inspired to name his restaurant ”Blueberry’s Grill”, since he grew up enjoying the fresh blueberries that were incorporated into his meals.  He is now using blueberries in many of his recipes as well.

Blueberry’s Grill, located at 7931 North Kings Highway, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, has become very popular with locals and tourists in the year and a half that it has been open due to its delicious and unusual menu.  Some of the more popular and unique specialties are:

ThanhS—”Wonderful wonderful breakfast/brunch spot!! The first time my family and I saw the restaurant on a Sunday the line was out the door. We decided to grab a brunch on Tuesday when it was less busy and the interior is very rustic and casual. The staff are all very nice and the service great!  I had the blueberry buttermilk pancakes which were divine. Highly recommend this spot if you are looking for a delicious breakfast spot in Myrtle Beach. Definitely worth the trip!”

JulieC—”We had a fantastic breakfast at Blueberry Grill! The service was great and the sweet potato pancakes are delicious! They have cinnamon and whole pecans, yummy! My husband had the banana foster French toast and he really enjoyed, full of flavor without being too sweet.  We will be back the next time we visit Myrtle Beach.”

PriteshP—”Phenomenal!  Blueberry’s is now my favorite place to eat in Myrtle Beach.  Now if only they were open for dinner too…I wonder what that menu would look like 😮  My fam and I came in for a Sunday Brunch.  We checked in via Yelp which helped us skip the line a bit.  Strongly recommend you do that. The weather was a nice cool 70 degrees so we sat outside in the shade.  We had some perfectly robust coffee, which was refilled by the staff on multiple occasions.  Light music aired in the background.  Just made for a great brunch atmosphere.  Our server was extremely friendly and helped guide us through the menu.  She recommended the Mickey Mouse side pancake for my 4 yr old.  He loved that!  I ordered the seasonal short stack of Pumpkin Pancakes.  Even the short stack was a lot of food…but they were fantastic.  My wife got the traditional breakfast with eggs, toast and bacon.  Superb as well.  Last but not least, we ordered a side cinnamon roll…holy cow, it’s freakin good.  Order it now if you are there and thank me later 🙂  Enjoy!”

Blueberry’s Grill also incorporates not one, but several fruits into some of their dishes such as their Blueberry’s Blast pancakes, waffles or French toast which are served topped with strawberries, bananas and blueberries topped with a dollop of whipped cream.  They are really known for their unique style creating variations on popular favorites, such as the omelets below which are prepared with 3 farm fresh eggs and served with their country home fries or grits and toast:

WillG—”Wow, what a gem!  This place is very clean, bright, friendly, and visually appealing. We stopped by here for breakfast while at my daughter’s dance competition and had a great experience.  The atmosphere is great…. from the moment we walked in we were greeted with smiles and pleasant staff.  The food was really tasty and reasonably priced.  The bathrooms were clean.  There were several nice touches from the plates, to the drink mugs, to the coffee cups.  Service was great and fairly quick.  We will definitely be back!.”

WilliamV—”Landed in Myrtle Beach yesterday, haven’t been here 24hrs and already ate at Blueberry’s for lunch and just now breakfast. Service is fast, food is fresh and delicious. Unique twists on both lunch and breakfast classics. Absolutely try one of their sauces that have blueberries in them.  If we had a place like this closer to home my wife and I would likely eat out for breakfast more often. For sure to be a staple of ours when visiting family in Myrtle Beach.”

ChipS—”Great place ! Bright And Clean. Not rundown like some other beach restaurants can be from time to time.  We only had breakfast but it was the best meal of the 4 day stay.  I had the corned beef hash Benedict it was perfectly prepared!  My wife had an omelet which was large and she said it was delicious!  Great place!”

JillianS—”I’m so excited to have found a new breakfast spot in Myrtle Beach. The first sign of a great morning was the Bloody Mary bar they had set up for weekends. They also give you a great pour of vodka to start! I ordered the classic eggs benny and it was perfect. The hollandaise was delicious and home fries we’re cooked to perfection. We got right in when we arrived because we used our Yelp app to get us on the list. Can’t wait to come back here for another Bloody Mary, and possibly some breakfast too.”

One other item that not a lot of Myrtle Beach area restaurants serve is the Skillet meals.  They sound delicious and are served with scrambled eggs, country home fries and artisan toast.  A few of them are described below:

  • LIVE & GIVE–Sautéed kielbasa, bacon, with mushrooms, caramelized onions, green peppers, and banana peppers. Topped with cheddar jack cheese and cilantro.
  • JUNGLE ISLAND–Corned beef, jalapeno peppers, and mushrooms. Topped with cheddar cheese and avocado sauce.
  • CHEEZE RIZO—Portugal chorizo, fresh tomatoes, spinach, cheddar cheese, and cilantro.
  • SOUTHERN SKILLET–Ham, bacon, fried green tomatoes, caramelized onions, and tomatoes with melted cheddar jack cheese.

As you can see by the reviews below, the skillets are a big hit as well as the other specialties:

MelindaL—”We went here twice on our trip to Myrtle Beach. The Columbian coffee was so good. My son tried two different skillet meals, and loved them. I got the French toast and fresh fruit one day, the grilled blueberry muffin with eggs and bacon on another. Delicious and good portions. Use Yelp to get on the wait list (if there’s a wait.)”

NE—”Terrific menu, customer service, and the highest quality of breakfast and lunch food that we have experienced in the MB area.  Many specialties – Southern skillet was great, blueberry beignets were an unexpected treat. We have to fit another visit in before returning home.”

One of the reasons that many of the dishes on the menu have a European flavor is because Evi grew up in a very small country in Europe, Albania.  Life was very tough for Evi, since the country was ruled by communism and his family was very poor.  Evi dreamed of coming to America, working hard, and making his dreams come true.  As soon as he turned 18, he came to America with only the clothes that he was wearing, landing in Salsbury, North Carolina.

He began working at a seafood restaurant, pouring tile.  The owner was so impressed with Evi, that he promoted him to manager after six months, although he was only 18 years of age.  Evi learned the business while managing the 350-chair restaurant and made it thrive.

After visiting Myrtle Beach on several occasions, Evi liked it so much that he decided to relocate to the Myrtle Beach area.  It was difficult for him to find a job, but did work in several restaurants until he stumbled upon a restaurant that was failing and was able to take it over.  He completely turned it around, improving on all aspects of the business—food quality, cleanliness, customer service and management.

The restaurant, Sunny Side Up Grill became very successful and is still thriving today in Little River, South Carolina.  From there, Evi built his very own restaurant from the ground up, becoming chef and manager of Blueberry’s Grill.  Chef Evi takes great pleasure in creating his unique breakfasts and lunches and giving his customers the best dining experience possible.

Blueberry’s has been so successful that Chef Evi is currently planning to add an additional restaurant at Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.  Apparently, the old saying is true, “If you can dream it, you can achieve it!”  Chef Evi, who was poor Albanian immigrant, has certainly made his dreams come true.  We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.
The next time you are in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, stop in at Blueberry’s Grill and delight your taste buds with Chef Evi’s unique creations.  We are going to leave you with one final rave review below:

BrittanyF—”Absolutely loved this place. Best part of our trip. I ordered a steak and egg breakfast with fruit and I added a pancake on the side. My friend ordered a French omelet with the grits and also ordered a side pancake. So delicious. My steak came out too pink for my taste the first time but came out perfect once sent back. Also, our food came out extremely fast. Super shocked because we came during peak breakfast hours. Everything about this place from the decor to the service to the cutesy nice touches were awesome. So awesome that, as we ate we googled to see if there was a Blueberry Grill back home. Will be back just to eat here!!”

So much to love…you certainly MUST try Blueberry’s Grill for yourself!
