Rivertown Bistro—Culinary Artistry in the Heart of Conway, South Carolina

Based on customer reviews as well as local Conway patrons’ recommendations, Rivertown Bistro is a hidden jewel of Horry County.  Located just blocks from the Waccamaw River in the historic, downtown district of Conway, Rivertown Bistro has a reputation for serving delicious food.  It is famous for its creative American cuisine and upscale atmosphere.  Based on the review below by Twotwinzmom, Rivertown Bistro is truly known far and wide for its quality food that creates a desire in the consumer to return again and again:

“This is our 4 or 5th time at the Rivertown Bistro and we have not had a single complaint yet! We heard of this restaurant “back home”in upstate NY and tried it as soon as we could. Tonights meal was just as wonderful as every other meal weve had. The Lobster, Shrimp and Scallop au gratin was delicious as was the Crab cake and scallops that my daughter had. The escargot appetizer was just the right size for the 3 of us to have a taste. The drinks are all nicely concocted also! I cannot wait to go back again. It is not cheap eats but it is probably the best quality food you can find around the Myrtle Beach area.”

Nicholas B also raves about the delicious Southern food done right with the desire to return for more:

“Southern food done right. The river town bistro never has a bad dish. One can get a tender filet to seared tuna with hoisin sauce. Their salads and starters are perfect to begin. The main dish will leave you satisfied and wanting to come back every time. The desserts are just icing on the cake. If you are in town might as well stop by.”

Located at 1111 3rd Avenue, Conway, South Carolina, in a building that was constructed in 1890 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Rivertown Bistro opened on June 7, 1994, serving American cuisine with a Southern flavor and quickly developed a reputation for unique dishes and unsurpassed service.

Unfortunately, fire struck late at night on January 30, 2008 and closed the business for a little over a year.  The community pulled together to support the owners and staff during this devastating time.   The restaurant reopened on February 9, 2009, and its clientele returned. Demonstrating the closeness and dedication of the staff, 21 of its 19 employees returned to work at Rivertown Bistro when it reopened.

Rivertown Bistro reopened better than ever with its seasonal menu serving the best the local area has to offer. You can dine on the upstairs balcony overlooking historic downtown Conway or in the two-tier dining room.  They also offer a private dining room with AV connectivity for events and functions where you will be treated to the same great food and service.

Rivertown serves lunch and dinner Tuesday through Saturday.  Based on the reviews below, the lunch menu is as delicious as the dinner menu is:

Memecoble:  “Wow what a find!!!  We wanted to visit downtown Conway to see what was down there. When we got there we were starving. I poked my head in a shop and asked where the best place to get lunch was. They recommended this place and were we ever glad!!! The service and atmosphere was awesome. The food was wonderful. My husband got one of the specials which was a cassadea with hamburger meat inside. He loved it! I got a chicken breast with a deep fried mac and cheese cake. I don’t know what they put on that chicken but it was amazing. We will certainly go back when we are in the area.”

Mmcerreta:  “A great choice!  We stopped for lunch after shopping. The message board lured us in. Our lunch was just about prefect in every way. Delicious food, attentive staff, quiet enough to talk. But the food was the best. Specials were delicious. Meatloaf wrap and steak Quesadilla. Price was very reasonable. We will return.

Darren Smith, one of the owners, has an uncommon culinary talent, using only the freshest ingredients and cooking each menu item to order.  There is also an extensive wine list, homemade desserts and specialty cocktails.  The next time you are in Conway or if you want a culinary delight in a quaint, historic town, stop by the Rivertown Bistro.
