Myrtle Beach—Perfect for Art in the Park!

The Waccamaw Arts and Crafts Guild will be hosting Art in the Park, the Grand Strand’s premier outdoor art show and sale on April 7th and 8th, 2018 in Valor Park at Market Common located at 1120 Farrow Parkway in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.  Art in the Park is held six weekends a year from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. alternating between Art in the Park Chapin Park Myrtle Beach, 1400 North Kings Highway and Art in the Park Market Common Valor Park.  This will be the first show of the Art in the Park Myrtle Beach 2018 season.

Myrtle Beach is a popular destination for the artists and their customers as well, due to the 60 miles of beautiful beaches and the many entertainment venues and attractions.  It is no coincidence that the Myrtle Beach is listed as one of the Top 10 Beach Towns by Coastal Living and ranked third as the Most Searched Travel Destination in the World by Google.  There will be lots of vacationers here to enjoy the Art in the Park.

An artist-run venue, Art in the Park, showcases only original work and high-quality prints or casts of original work by artists.  Visual art, as defined by the hosts “includes (but is not limited to) painting, sculpture, woodworking, photography, jewelry, fabric, glass, metal, pottery, stone and mixed media work”.

Myrtle Beach art history was made when landscape artist and gallery owner, Larry Boulier, chaired a meeting at the Horry Tech Center and founded the Waccamaw Arts and Crafts Guild in February 1968 with thirty-two charter members.  They have been hosting the Art in the Park since 1972 for artists from all over the country working in a range of mediums.

The Art in the Park has become increasingly successful over the years thanks to the efforts of the Waccamaw Arts and Crafts Guild.  It is the oldest guild in the Grand Strand area and continues to serve the arts community as it moves through the twenty-first century.  Their goal is to make art an integral part of life on the Grand Strand.

Make plans now to visit the Grand Strand and enjoy our Art in the Park before you head out to the beaches for a little fun in the sun!  You might purchase some art you cannot leave without to commemorate your trip.
