Meet Our New Realtor®-Tim Shields

Hello again!  We are back to introduce you to another one of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Elliott Coastal Living’s new beach real estate agents, Tim Shields, from Raleigh, North Carolina, which is approximately 165 miles from North Myrtle Beach, SC.   Tim also grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he attended Sanderson High School and was the defensive cornerback on the football team.

Tim’s father was a career Army Officer achieving the rank of Captain.  His last assignment, prior to being honorably discharged, was to oversee the Army ROTC program at North Carolina State University (NCSU) as the Executive officer.  As a civilian, he became a Director at the Division of Continuing Education at NCSU.  Tim’s mother works as the business manager for a Family Physician practice in Raleigh.  When she retired, she moved to Florida and became a real estate agent.

After graduating from high school, Tim attended the University of Tulsa and earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences.  After graduating from college, Tim enjoyed a 35-year career in marketing, sales and customer service in the Healthcare industry with the Laboratory Corporation of America, HealthSouth and United Healthcare.

Tim is married to Deborah, who is a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant with Charlotte Dermatology in Myrtle Beach.  They had two beautiful children, a son and a daughter, who are now adults.  They have both graduated from college and have started successful careers.

Tim’s hobbies are fishing (saltwater and freshwater), boating, and studying and reading Civil War history.  He and his wife also enjoy spending time with family and friends on the beach, as well as, visiting the various beach music venues on Main Street in North Myrtle Beach. Dining at the large variety of restaurants in North Myrtle Beach is another outing Tim and his wife enjoy.

Tim and his wife are originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, but they have been living in North Myrtle Beach, enjoying the sand and surf as well as all of the other amenities the Myrtle Beach area has to offer, for the past 16 years.  Although Tim is a new beach real estate agent, he is very familiar with the Myrtle Beach area and is ready to show you the best Myrtle Beach Real Estate available.  Let’s find out how Tim is feeling about his new career.

Q:  Tim, how long have you been a real estate agent?

A:  I just received my real estate license in July, and I’m excited about moving forward to assisting clients and customers in finding the home of their dreams.

Q:  How will you market yourself to a potential client that causes them to choose you as their agent?

A:  I will demonstrate that I am someone who will listen carefully to any potential buyer or seller and work hard using all of the resources available to exceed their expectations.

Q:  What characteristics do you have that you feel will make you a successful beach real estate agent?

A:  I believe that my drive and positive work ethic and integrity will contribute to my success. My previous sales and customer service experience has taught me that customers must be treated with respect and with honesty in all situations.

Q:  Being a real estate agent in Myrtle Beach is very competitive, what will you do will help you become “one of the best” real estate agents in the Myrtle Beach area?

A:  I feel that being resourceful with exceptional follow-up and follow through with clients, customers, and other realtors will allow me to achieve this goal.

Q:  As a real estate agent at Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Elliott Coastal Living in the Myrtle Beach area, you do not have set office hours, so you have to be self motivated.  What motivates you?

A:  My wife, family and faith play the biggest part; however, I’ve always been motivated by achieving goals set by myself or by my customers’ needs.  Financial rewards will follow success.

Q:  When you list a house for a client in the Myrtle Beach area, what means of marketing will you find most valuable in reaching other realtors and potential clients?

A:  I will utilize the MLS, social media and other websites in addition to open houses and word of mouth.

Q:  What will you find most rewarding about your job as a real estate agent for Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Elliott Coastal Living in Myrtle Beach?

A:  Assisting clients in reaching their real estate goals and knowing that I provided a  positive role in their decision-making process will be the most rewarding aspect of the job. A satisfied customer will remember their experience and hopefully, contact me for any future needs and create a new referral.
