Hello, we are back again to introduce you to Lacey Burgess Hatley, one of our newest beach real estate agents with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Elliott Coastal Living in North Myrtle Beach, SC.
Lacey was born in Augusta, Georgia, but grew up in Concord and Locust, North Carolina–two small towns outside of Charlotte, North Carolina. Lacey was the oldest of three girls which she feels may explain why she is such a hard worker, since she was expected to lead by example. Lacey’s parents were very industrious. Her dad is an electrical contractor and owns his own electrical company, Electric Laser, but he could do a little of everything. Her mom was a stay-at-home mom before getting her degree in Radiography, specializing in Mammography, after Lacey and her sisters graduated from high school. Lacey went to West Stanly High School in Oakboro, North Carolina and enjoyed every minute of it. She participated in many organizations in high school such as drama, Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) for future health professionals, volleyball, photography club and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).
After high school, Lacey moved to Greenville, North Carolina and attended East Carolina University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology (Health Fitness) and Master of Science in Recreational Therapy Administration. While Lacey was in college, she also obtained her Animal Assisted Therapy Degree and a Certification in Aquatic Therapy as well as a Certificate in Tai Chi. After finishing her post-graduate degrees, she moved to Wilmington, North Carolina, which is approximately 60 miles north of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, to work at a Mental Health Facility for adolescents. Lacey was soon asked to return to Charlotte, North Carolina to create and start a Recreational Therapy program for a sister psychiatric facility. Not long after, Lacey relocated to Conway, South Carolina, which is approximately 20 miles outside of Myrtle Beach, to join a new mental health team at the Mental Health Hospital.
Throughout all of this, she did find time to marry her “best friend” who she attended high school with, but never dated until she was in college. They were married two and a half years ago, and they are the proud parents of a “fur-baby”. It is an Italian sheepdog, a Maramma, which is very rare in the United States and was flown to North Carolina from Kansas to work on Lacey’s Alpaca Farm. When the Alpaca Farm was sold and they moved to South Carolina, the working dog became a spoiled house dog.
According to Lacey, she has always been a “go-getter” whether it’s been engaging in multiple extra-curricular activities after school, taking extra classes to further her education or begging to get a job when she was only 13. She finally opened a “car wash” business—washing her Dad’s work trucks and her Mom’s car on the weekends. By her early 20s, she had started an Alpaca Farm to help children with sensory-related issues and had a future plan for Animal Therapy within schools, nursing homes and hospitals.
Lacey has worked with the public for many years, whether it is helping at the homeless shelter, going on Missions, or building a Habitat Home when in high school to working for and advocating for patients with mental health issues since 2012. She has been a Recreational Therapist for five years, but has worked with the public in some capacity for nearly 20 years.
Lacey has that ambitious attitude and is a very hard worker. She has now obtained her real estate license and become a beach real estate agent for Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Elliott Coastal Living–one of the leading real estate companies North Myrtle Beach SC. Let’s find out how Lacey feels about her newest career choice.
Q: Lacey, how long have you been a beach real estate agent?
A: I am one of the new North Myrtle Beach real estate agents but possess many qualities that a buyer or seller needs during their transition phase. After recently purchasing my current home, I became very interested in real estate, especially how to help others make the process that I have recently been through smoother, less stressful, and actually an enjoyable experience. Buying or selling Myrtle Beach real estate is a big life event and should be viewed as fun and exciting, and I aim to make the process just that for each of my clients.
Q: There are many Myrtle Beach real estate agencies along the Grand Strand, but you chose BHGRE. Why?
A: Better Homes and Gardens has been a name brand in my home for many years and I have never been disappointed. Q: How will you market yourself to a potential client that causes them to choose you as their agent?
A: I will meet my clients where they are by listening. I think it is very important for a Realtor to get to know their clients in order to help them make their dreams a reality, whether it is selling or buying Myrtle Beach area real estate. For sellers, I will put a lot of effort into offering and promoting open houses, as well as listing the Myrtle Beach area real estate on many social media outlets, including the BHGRE website where not only other agents can view it, but hundreds of eager buyers will also see it. As for buyers, I will use the tools I have to help search properties suitable to the clients’ needs and wants, show clients properties they are interested in, and provide additional contacts to individuals and/or agencies also involved in the purchasing process. I will work hard to be one of the reputable top real estate agents in North Myrtle Beach SC.
Q: What assets do you have that will contribute to your success as a beach real estate agent?
A: I have many assets that a Realtor should possess. Not only am I extremely dedicated and hardworking, but I am also fair, honest and dependable. Having these characteristics, I will work hard for my clients from start to finish as well as maintain contact after the transaction to assist with future Myrtle Beach real estate endeavors. I will be upfront throughout the buying/selling process and easily accessible during my business hours to answer questions and ease concerns, big or small.
Q: Now that you are a North Myrtle Beach Real Estate Agent, what do you like best about the job?
A: I have always been a “people person”, and I like speaking with individuals on a daily basis, even if they are not ready to buy or sell at the moment. I have a passion, and the ability to help and educate, and in real estate, I can do both.
Q: As a real estate agent at Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Elliott Coastal Living in the Myrtle Beach area, you will not have set office hours, so you have to be self motivated. What motivates you?
A: Making a difference is my motivation. When I feel as if I have helped someone, even if it’s just answering a question, I feel I have accomplished something. Throughout my career of working in health care or volunteering in the community, I have experienced this sense of accomplishment, and I intend to continue to assist individuals while working as a Realtor to continue my self-motivation.
Q: When you list a house for a client in the Myrtle Beach area, what means of marketing will you use to reach other realtors and potential clients?
A: I love all the different forms of technology that we have at our finger tips, from phone apps, to email, to video chats and the vast number of social media outlets. I will be using social media, emailing lists to other agents and potential buyers, as well as using the numerous Realtor sites available to me such as MLS for Myrtle Beach real estate listings and the BHGRE website. I am also a fan of Open Houses and will host and promote these while working with the sellers’ busy schedule.
Q: How will you create your client base as a Myrtle Beach Real Estate Agent?
A: I have a Facebook page: Lacey Burgess Hatley @ Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate / Elliott Coastal Living which is a public site. I will also be sending out regular emails, postcards and flyers as well as making phone calls to potential buyers and sellers. I will be working in the main office a few times a month and on the weekends, as well.
Q: What do you think will be the most rewarding aspect of your job as a real estate agent for Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Elliott Coastal Living in Myrtle Beach?
A: Making dreams come true! I know how good I felt, and still do, when I purchased my home and knowing I can do the same for someone else will be rewarding. If I can sell North Myrtle Beach Real Estate to help aid an individual in reaching a new dream, or help a buyer purchase Myrtle Beach Real Estate for their current or future dream, then I have succeeded. It is a dream of mine to become one of the top real estate agents in Myrtle Beach one day!
