Today we would like to introduce you to another one of our Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Elliott Coastal Living Myrtle Beach real estate agents, Esben Salling. Esben grew up in Kolding, Denmark with one older sister. His mother was a housewife and his father was in management in the Insurance Industry.
Esben was a good soccer player during his school years, but he excelled in ballroom dancing. He was taking ballroom dancing lessons at age six and started competing at age eight, winning approximately two trophies a year in local, regional, and national competitions. He stopped competing at age 22.
After Esben graduated from high school, he went to a local college in Denmark and majored in music and language. Esben speaks five languages—English, German, Danish, Norwegian and Swedish. Upon graduation from college, Esben went into military service as a part of a M.A.S.H. (Mobile Army Surgical Hospital) unit as a nurse after completing boot camp.
When Esben finished his tour of duty in the service, he began an apprenticeship with International Transportation and Logistics. He was hired as an employee after completing his apprenticeship and was sent to America on a two-year Visa.
While he was working in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin Branch of International Transportation and Logistics, Esben met an American woman that would eventually become his wife. Soon after the couple met, Esben’s Visa expired, and he had to return to Demark to get it renewed. The American Embassy renewed his Visa and Esben returned to America, married his sweetheart and had two children—a son and a daughter. Esben has been married to his wife for 33 years and they have 5 grandchildren.
Esben raised his family in Racine, Wisconsin while working for International Transportation and Logistics for 18 years. He decided to change companies and went to work for Master Lock as Supervisor of Transportation for several years to supervise a major transition where he got a lot of experience in customer service, sales and price negotiations.
Tired of shoveling snow, he decided to move to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where the climate is always mild. He opened a Patio Furniture Store at Tanger Outlet Mall and he and his family rented Myrtle Beach real estate during this time and enjoyed the weather and beautiful ocean.
All of Esben’s years’ experience in customer service, retail sales, and negotiation prepared him well to become a Myrtle Beach real estate agent once he decided to dissolve his retail store business. In this exclusive interview with Esben, let’s see what he has to say about how he manages his business as a North Myrtle Beach real estate agent.
