Grand Strand Tree Lightings 2017

Hang your stockings and trim your tree!  Believe it or not, it is that time of year again!  The Christmas holidays are upon us, and the Grand Strand will be decked out in all its Yuletide finery.  The Grand Strand is 60 miles of beautiful beaches with several little towns and cities along the coast– Pawley’s Island, Litchfield, Murrell’s Inlet, Garden City, Surfside, Myrtle Beach, and North Myrtle Beach.

The Grand Strand is a wonderful place to live and visit during the Christmas holidays.  It transforms into a festive, vision of lights to delight visitors and residents as they prepare for Saint Nick’s annual visit.  Today, we are going to give you the dates and times of the Christmas Tree Lightings in some of our towns and cities, so you can join in the festivities as the Grand Strand transforms into a Christmas Wonderland for all to see.

Christmas Tree Lightings Along the Grand Strand:

November 18, 2017:

Barefoot Landing–The Lighting of the Landing located at 4898 Hwy 17 South, North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina will begin at 6:00 p.m. in Lakeside Village near the carousel.  The Christmas tree is 22 feet tall and covered in hundreds of twinkling lights and beautiful decorations.  There will be musical entertainment with Emcee Jingles the Elf.  Of course, Santa will be there, and there will also be fireworks over the lake at 7:00 p.m. to get the holiday season started.

Pawleys Island will kick off the holiday season with its annual Hammock Shops Village Christmas Tree Lighting from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at 10880 Ocean Highway, Pawleys Island, South Carolina.  Miss South Carolina, Suzi Roberts, will be there to officially light the tree along with Santa and Mrs. Claus, Slappy the Elf and Elsa and Anna from Frozen.  The children can enjoy lots of fun activities such as cookie decorating and ornament making.  There will be a donation box for Toys for Tots and a special silent auction with all of the proceeds going to Toys for Tots.   The shops of the Hammock Shops Village will be competing to see which one is sporting the best Christmas finery in their Christmas decorating contest; so, make sure to vote.

Myrtle Beach—The Market Common will host the annual Christmas Tree Lighting in front of the Grand 14 Cinema located at 4002 DeVille Street, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.  There will be a trackless train running along DeVille Street for your little ones to ride.  There will also be a balloon artist, face painter, food vendors, carnival games and inflatables along Reed Street.  Santa will arrive on his sleigh just in time to pose for photos and light the tree.

November 24, 2017:

Myrtle Beach Boardwalk—The Oceanfront Merchants Annual Tree Lighting is from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at 9th Avenue North and Ocean Boulevard.  Recording artist, Lisa Crawford will be on stage from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.  Mr. and Mrs. Clause will be there to hear the children’s Christmas list and you are welcome to take pictures.  There will be balloon twisters, face painting, a Christmas craft table, and Holiday train ride.  The actual tree lighting is at 6:00 p.m.  Bring your chairs and enjoy the evening!

November 30, 2017:

Surfside Beach will have its annual Christmas Tree Lighting from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. in front of Surfside Town Hall 115 Highway 17 North, Surfside Beach, South Carolina.  There will be music and a visit from Santa Claus.

December 1, 2017:

Murrells Inlet will host their annual Christmas Tree Lighting from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Morse Park Landing, 4911 US-17 BR, Murrells Inlet, South Carolina.  Mr. and Mrs. Claus will be making a special appearance and there will be lots of activities for the children, Christmas music and pictures with Santa.

December 2, 2017:

Broadway at the Beach located at 1325 Celebrity Circle, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina will have its 23rd Annual Tree Lighting at 6:00 p.m. at the Pavillion Park West.  There will be a live performance by Legends in Concert, the Carolina Freestyle cloggers and more holiday music along with kids activities with a special appearance by Santa.  It will be followed by a Fireworks Extravaganza at 8:00 p.m.

December 5, 2017:

North Myrtle Beach will have its annual Christmas Tree Lighting at the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex located at 150 Citizens Circle, Little River, South Carolina.  The festivities will begin at 5:30 p.m. with activities, entertainment and refreshments for children of all ages.

As you can see, the Grand Strand is ready to help you celebrate your Christmas holidays, so come join the fun–shop, dine, play, and be entertained, but don’t expect snow.  We are waiting for you!
