FOR ALL CHILDREN: SAVANNAH’S PLAYGROUND IN MYRTLE BEACH, SOUTH CAROLINA

As you approach Savannah’s Playground, whether from the lake front fitness trail or from the path that starts at Crabtree Memorial Gym or from your very own piece of Myrtle Beach real estate right there, you already know you’re somewhere special.

A beautiful symphony is echoing in the near distance. The harmony is that of the musical play instruments that adorn the park mixed with the contagious little person giggles of delight. A brief breeze has the leaves above swaying a dance that reminds you fall has gone away. You can almost taste the salty air, which reminds you that you’re not far from the beach–just about a mile to be exact! Also close by are beach homes for sale in Surfside Beach as well as condos for sale in Myrtle Beach along S. Ocean Boulevard.

If you enter from where the baseball fields are—near Myrtle Beach real estate in The Highlands, you’ll first arrive to see an assortment of swings. From High Back Full Bucket Swings fit for babies, swing seat with buckle perfect for the toddler, to the classic sling swing for the kid in all of us.

Head past the swings and you’ll come to an area designed for the youngest of children. What is especially impressive are the equipment designed for early childhood for children up to age 5, so the younger kids can climb and slide without having to worry as much about being knocked over or trampled by the big kids. With four separate areas, you’ll notice signs designating the preferred age group, like this, “This playstructure has been designed for children 6 to 23 months old.”

Like the playground near North Myrtle Beach real estate, at the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex, taking up the most space is a massive play structure of slides, platforms, and tons of ladders and steps to climb on. In the middle of this, you’ll find buttons to turn on the water mister which is a must-have in the hot South Carolina days. The most exciting part of this park, it seems, is the zipline. There are three tracks, one with a disc seat and two with a full seat with a buckle.

Named after Savannah Thompson, a Socastee High School student born with Williams Syndrome, a condition that presents development delays and other challenges.  It’s so beautiful the vision of this interactive playground is to enable all children, including those with mental and physical disabilities, to play and explore!  From sensory play panels and musical feature throughout the playground, specially designed swings and an abundance of tunnels, there is no shortage of exploration and learning through play here!

What you’ll see today, though, is just Phase 1. With the completion of the next two phases everyone will finally be able to enjoy the water-play park, a pier with paddle boats and a challenge ropes course!

Central to houses for sale in Myrtle Beach in Socastee, Forestbrook, Surfside and Downtown Myrtle Beach, Savannah’s Playground is a fabulous place to be when you’re living in Myrtle Beach real estate.
